New team in Uganda
A few years ago the Services sponsored a young team at Nailsea & Backwell Rugby Club. We provided a full playing kit for that years under 13's. It was obviously good quality merchandise as look where it has ended up. I had noticed other teams wearing the strip as the years went by but now, via a donation scheme, the kit is being used by some young rugby players in Uganda. It just goes to show. Buy well and you certainly see the benefits over the years. I hope the lads in the photo get as much out of the sport as our local boys do. Kids sports. Its so good for young people and we are happy to help out.
Mind you this year we have sponsored a player. Joe Brake. A local farmer, pest controller, cider maker (Brakes Cider of Nailsea) and veteran rugby player. When I say the sport is good for youngsters I am not so sure when it comes to codgers. The club get a third / veteran team out early in the season but the injury list after the first couple of matches usually necessitates a break until after Christmas for everyone to recover. His kit ought to last a lifetime. I think its only going to get used about 3 times a season. However we are happy to help.
